I have been one of the 7 artists selected for the first part of the Wakiña project, carried out by the La Parceria Cultural Center for Artistic Experimentation and Documentation!
Wakiña is an Andean word to refer to a form of communalization of land work in which some have the land and others provide the seed.
Following this idea of a process in which each person contributes from their own diverse possibilities, La Parceria has created a program of artistic residencies, oriented towards creation, collective experimentation and exhibition.
I am part of the first chapter of the program and I am next to femininities with very powerful vital, professional and artistic trajectories such as Paola Hurtado, Silvia Agüero, Linda Porn, Sofía Acosta Varea, Ana Álvarez-Errecalde and Karessa Malaya Ramos Aguiñot. The curator is Camena Camacho, Ana Álvarez Errecalde and Carolina Bustamante.
From online meetings – we are in various parts of Spain and the world – we each create our own project, expanding our possibilities of expression. It is a space that is nourishing me enormously both as a diasporic woman, as well as as a mother and artist.
I’m still simmering my proposal but this time I won’t dance or make people dance in the most literal sense of the word. I feel like exploring other possibilities and this is the perfect space to experiment freely.
The opening date will be Thursday, July 6 at 8:30 p.m. at La Parceria, which is on Martín de Vargas Street, 13 Embajadores.
See you there.
